  1. 1. Confirm the scope gate before the unit leaves the truck

A dishwasher stop splits into delivery and placement, which most crews are assigned, and electrical and plumbing connections, which require documented qualification. Confirm what your work order authorizes, what your program has trained and documented you for, and what local rules allow at this address. Anything outside that boundary is inspect, photograph, and escalate.

  2. 2. Work from the manufacturer instructions for this model

The packed instructions are the procedure for every connection and every mounting decision. If they are missing, or they call for work your authorization does not cover, place the unit and escalate rather than working from memory of a different model.

  3. 3. Protect the path and verify the rough-in by inspection

Lay runners from the truck to the kitchen, measure the opening against the unit, and look at the existing hot supply, drain provision, and electrical provision. Record what is there with photos. Do not modify the rough-in to make the unit fit.

  4. 4. Treat the electrical connection as qualified work

  5. 5. Treat the plumbing connection as qualified work

  6. 6. Place and secure only what you are authorized to complete

  7. 7. Do not commission a connection you did not make

Tools

  • Manufacturer installation instructions for this model
  • Work order stating exactly which connections are authorized
  • Nut drivers, screwdrivers, and a level for placement
  • Runners, towels, and a shallow pan
  • Flashlight and phone camera for documenting the rough-in

Safety tips

  • Electrical and plumbing connections require documented qualification and authorization. Being assigned the delivery does not authorize them.
  • Do not restore a breaker or open a supply valve to test work you were not authorized to perform.
  • Removing a disposer knockout is a one-way decision. If it is not unmistakably your scope under the instructions, escalate.
  • Watch for sharp cabinet rails and existing supply lines behind the unit.
  • Do not lift a dishwasher by the door.
